Battle of Surabaya


The Battle of Surabaya was fought between pro-independence Indonesian soldiers and militia against British and Dutch troops as a part of the Indonesian National Revolution. The peak of the battle was in November 1945. Despite fierce resistance, British and Indian troops managed to conquer Surabaya, the second-largest city in Indonesia, on behalf of the Netherlands. The battle was the heaviest single battle of the revolution and became a national symbol of Indonesian resistance. Considered a heroic effort by Indonesians, the battle helped galvanise Indonesian and international support for Indonesian independence. 10 November is celebrated annually as Heroes' Day (Hari Pahlawan).

World Scout Organization

Scout Movement is a youth development movement that has global influence. Scouting movement consisting of various youth organizations, both for men and women, which aims to train physically, mentally and spiritually the participants and encourage them to do positive activities in the community. This objective is achieved through training programs and non-formal education that promotes scouting in the field of practical activity. Currently, there are more than 38 million members of Scouting than 217 countries and territories.

Feast Day of Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is an Islamic feast day. At today's event commemorated the sacrifice, that is when the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who are willing to sacrifice his son Ismail to God, to sacrifice his son Ismail, later replaced by him with the sheep.

On this feast day, Muslims gathered in the morning and perform the Eid prayers together in the field or
mosque, such as when to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. After the prayer, carried out the slaughter of sacrificial animals, to commemorate God's command to Prophet Ibrahim who slaughtered sheep in lieu of his son.
